Ceremony:
The fees for solemnizing a wedding are set by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. For a wedding held within the community in which the JP resides, (in my case Walpole) the fee is set at $100. For a wedding held outside that community, the fee is $150.
Consultation:
Consulting with you is part of the job. I do not charge a fee for consultation by phone, email, or even in person, as long as our meeting is held at my home in Walpole.
I do charge a $25 fee for in-person consultations held elsewhere in Walpole. For consultations held outside Walpole the fee is $50.
I can meet for consultations on weekends if necessary, however as this is the most common time for weddings as well as family time, so weekday afternoons and evenings I have better availability.
Rehearsals:
For rehearsals held in Walpole, I charge a minimal $25 fee. For rehearsals held in Sharon, Norwood, Dover, Westwood, Medfield, Norfolk, or Foxboro, the fee is $50. For all other towns outside Walpole, the fee is $75.
Expenses and Travel:
I do require reimbursement if your wedding requires an additional or unusual expense such paid parking, or rented clothing for a renaissance or medieval wedding. However you may also make such arrangements yourself on my behalf rather than reimburse me.
While I don’t charge an additional fee for weddings that take place at a considerable distance from Walpole (such as the outer Cape or Western Massachusetts) I gladly accept gratuities for gasoline!
Notary Services:
As a Notary Public, I provide this service free of charge to my clients.
